Yes, boys and girls, it’s that time once again, when we will offer a Bible study opportunity, both live and in-person while also being streamed lived that one can view in real time or later in the day or week, depending on your life schedule.
Subject/Topic: Parables of Jesus as Subversive Speech
I’m borrowing the title of the book my New Testament teacher and mentor, the late Dr. Bill Herzog, wrote. I/we will use his book as one of our main resources. I hope that we will discover, together, that these often-simple stories taken from everyday life of those living in 1st Century Palestine, have deeper layers that also have subversive elements that run counter to life lived under the presence of the Empire. It’s these counter-intuitive elements that make living our faith out loud, even today, challenging and at times, uncomfortable.
