Rev. Dr. Gina Jacobs-Strain
General Secretary of the American Baptist Churches - USA
Rev. Dr. Gina C. Jacobs-Strain was appointed General Secretary of American Baptist Churches USA in November 2023, officially beginning her role in February 2024. Her lifelong commitment to faith and ministry began in childhood and has evolved into a powerful vocation focused on spreading the gospel, nurturing relationships, and empowering communities. With a rich background in leadership—including her tenure as Executive Director of American Baptist Women’s Ministries—she has amplified support for girls and young women across the nation.
In her role as General Secretary, Dr. Jacobs-Strain brings together the denomination through summits, councils, and dialogues that foster unity and engagement. She actively supports congregations with resources for stewardship, leadership development, and pastoral training. Her work reflects ABCUSA’s core values and a deep commitment to creating a loving, grace-filled faith community driven by hope, compassion, and purpose.
Rev. Dr. Angela Barker-Jackson
VP of Institutional Advancement of the Berkeley School of Theology
Angela Barker Jackson (Angie) is an ordained minister in the American Baptist tradition living out her call in the context of theological education. She has worked as a public-school teacher, served congregations as youth minister, solo pastor, and co-pastor and served as director of a shelter for un-housed women and children.
Her Doctor of Ministry Project in formation for financial leadership led her to fundraising as ministry and served as the impetus for the attainment of additional credentials. Angie thrives in a learning community and enjoys lively and deep conversations about life, faith, books, music, art, poetry, travel, and food. She is both a solitary thinker and energetic collaborator, as well as a published author, workshop presenter, and seminar facilitator.
